What grandmother swore by
Whatever's going around tends to settle in the throat first, before it goes any deeper.
For generations, people have reached for warm water with honey, turmeric, and a little mint or coriander, and found it keeps them well when colds are about. Some research suggests honey may soothe a cough or sore throat.
What would a cup do for you?
What you'll need
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 tsp honey
- A pinch of turmeric
- A few leaves of mint or coriander
Method
Heat the water until hot, not boiling, then stir in the honey, turmeric, and mint or coriander.
Give it a minute, and sip it warm. Some take a cup every few hours when something's about.
Through a week when colds are about, notice whether things ease before they take hold, and how you feel as the days go on.
