Moves After the last bite

After the last bite

The evening meal is the one most of us sit straight down after. Then carry to bed still heavy.

Some people find a little movement first helps it settle. A walk, or even a dance.

A gentle walk soon after eating may also help steady the rise in blood sugar, some research suggests.

What would a walk do to your evening?

What you'll need

  • 20–30 minutes after your evening meal
  • Somewhere to move: a street, a block, a long hallway
  • Or just the kitchen and a song, if a little dance suits you better

Method

When the meal's done, don't settle in just yet.

Head out at an easy pace, a stroll, not a march. No room for a walk?

Put a song on and move about the kitchen instead.

Give it a week of evenings. Notice how heavy or light you feel afterwards, and how you sleep.
