Feet on the ground
The ground has been holding you up all day. It's easy to forget it's there.
In yoga, standing still and letting the weight settle into the feet is a way of arriving back in the body. Some people find that turning attention down to the feet quietens a busy mind.
Where is your weight resting, right now?
What you'll need
- Your feet, bare if you like
- A moment, standing or sitting still
Method
Stand or sit, and bring your attention down to your feet.
Feel where they meet the ground, the pressure, the warmth, the spread of your weight.
Let the weight settle, and stay with the feeling of contact for a breath or two.
Come back to it a few times a day for a week, and notice whether it settles you, and what your weight does when you're tense or at ease.
